Athletic Measurables

Recommended Film Structure

Opening Identification Slide

Name, position, graduation year, high school, height, weight, GPA, and contact information. Keep it clean and professional.

Best Plays First (0:00–1:00)

Lead with your most impressive plays. Coaches may only watch the first minute. Make it count.

Organized by Play Type (1:00–3:30)

Group similar plays together — pass plays, run plays, special situations. Makes it easier for coaches to evaluate specific skills.

Closing Contact Slide

Repeat your name, position, graduation year, and contact information at the end.

Position-Specific Guidance

Quarterback

Show arm strength on deep throws.
Include pocket presence and mobility plays.
Highlight decision-making under pressure.
Show pre-snap reads and audibles when possible.

Linebacker

Lead with run-stopping plays.
Show pass coverage range and instincts.
Include blitz packages and sack plays.
Highlight sideline-to-sideline pursuit.

Wide Receiver

Show route running precision.
Include contested catch situations.
Highlight yards after catch.
Show blocking effort on run plays.

Offensive Lineman

Use all-22 or wide-angle film when available.
Show pass protection technique.
Include run-blocking and pulling plays.
Highlight footwork and hand placement.

Defensive Back

Show man and zone coverage ability.
Include interceptions and pass breakups.
Highlight run support and tackling.
Show communication and alignment.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Film that is too long — coaches stop watching after 4 minutes.
Poor camera angles — sideline-only footage makes it hard to evaluate linemen.
No identification slide — coaches need to know who they are watching.
Slow-motion effects on every play — use sparingly, if at all.
Loud music that distracts from the plays.
Including bad plays or mistakes — only show your best work.
Broken or private links — test your link before sending.
Sending the same generic film to every coach — tailor your message.
